Silent Unfolding 🌹

A procedural rose bloom created in Houdini using KineFX.

This project focuses on achieving a natural and organic unfolding of petals through a procedural workflow. The aim was to control timing, layering, and motion in a way that avoids mechanical behaviour and feels closer to real-world growth.

KineFX was used to build a flexible rigging setup, allowing the bloom to be driven through structured transformations rather than traditional keyframe animation. This approach made it easier to refine motion and maintain consistency across the entire structure.

Rendered using Karma in Solaris.

The setup and approach were inspired by flower bloom principles in KineFX, explained by John Kunz.
